Raise your hand if you like ISIS….No? Exactly. ISIS is a terroristic group that needs wiped from the face of the earth.
So, mocking them shouldn’t be out of the question, right? The British thought it would be funny to do a skit making fun of ISIS, and in some ways, it is undeniably laughable.
After this British television program released this ad though, there was an uproar about it being racist and unfair.
The Washington Times reported:
The British Broadcasting Corporation is under fire from some of its viewers over an ad for a comedy sketch titled “Real Housewives of ISIS.”
Social media feedback was robust Tuesday when BBC Two shared its terror-inspired parody of Bravo TV’s “Real Housewives” reality series. Over 40,000 people reacted to the “Revolting” show’s commercial on Facebook.
“It’s only three days until the beheading and I have no idea what I’m going to wear?” one of the actors says in the commercial.Another scene involves women trying on suicide vests. One of the women complains that the other “copied” her style.
Tens of thousands of comments on BBC Two’s Facebook page ranged from people hailing its courage to others who deemed it revolting.
Did they take it too far? Is it “racist” to mock a terroristic group? I don’t think so.
Professor William Jacobson at Legal Insurrection, explains that “If you claim mocking ISIS is mocking Islam, you’re not making the point you think you are.”
The skit did not make fun of Muslims, but rather ISIS.So why defend a group of horrible people who murder innocent people? ISIS does not deserve an ounce of respect.
